Are Mig welding with the same metals and I have FCAW (flux core with shielding gas) up to 1" steel only. 95% of my welding is Aluminum Tig at my current job which I've been at for the last 18 years. But before that I worked at a shop that made custom hoses for many applications. (Like those braided metal hoses you see on hot rodded cars engines for example) but they didn't require any certs. To weld there though. I've welded Incolnel braided hoses for them on occasion for the industry that used them to transfer caustic liquids. (chlorine is what I think it was, but not sure). And one thing I could tell you, is if there's something in the weld other than the base metal, filler wire or gas, ( like a speck of grit or dust) those hoses would leak when tested. It was very frustrating on several occasions. Even the stainless steel hoses were difficult, but made the same way. The corrugated inner hose was about as thick soda can, then the braided wire armor outer, couplings and any connectors had to be welded solid and tested underwater for leaks regardless of base metal. I've also welded in several Machine shops across the U.S. The aerospace certification for where I'm at now Is so the employer could be ISO 9001 certified more than anything, but I did need to pass the tests to be Certified. We do weld stuff that goes on some aircraft so it's helpful, but its mostly to keep the Iso 9001 certification.
