I’ve been trying to get the dead algae off the bottom of my above ground pool but our vacuum seems like it just pushes it around then the water gets cloudy and green again and I have to wait till it settles to try again. Can you please suggest a good vacuum?

@Leo TMZ36 Changing the water doesn't help as much as you think it would. The bacteria and algae are still in the filter and walls and floor if the pool and will refrow in the new water if not taken care if with chemicals

Why not change the water in the swimming pool

You might need to change the filter on your pool, I had the same situation happen to me!

Nice work but can someone explain to me why you wouldn’t just drain the pool at end of season cover it and start new in summer?

Because the right balance of chemicals at the start of the season makes it pure again, and you don’t waste thousands upon thousands of litres of water each year for no reason. Once the chemicals have done their job, it’s exactly the same as brand new water. But far cheaper and much better for the environment. My dad works at a water treatment plant in the UK. For the last few years, the water table (the amount of water in the ground) has been getting lower and lower and despite being in rainy England, the reservoir water levels are very low. We’ve had quite a few hosepipe bans in recent years because there isn’t enough rain vs the amount of water people use. Imagine if you weren’t allowed to refill your pool for the new season, because there was a ban on non-essential use of water. It would be extremely frustrating considering a few chemicals would have made the old water like new in the space of hours.
